'The better you know yourself, the better your relationship with the rest of the world'

- Toni Collette

The first and most important relationship is the one with ourselves. Our past experiences have shaped the person we are now. But that doesn't mean that defines us, and it doesn't mean we can't ditch those habits or negative beliefs that really don't work anymore.

By having a deeper understanding of ourselves, we are more able to create much better relationships with others in our world, whether personal, romantic, or professional.

My guests come from varied backgrounds and share their stories and experiences. Maybe similar to yours, or giving you a different perspective.

So why not sit down, grab a cuppa and choose one of the episodes to listen to.

INTRO

Growing up in the 80s ADHD was not widely understood; it was attributed to bad parenting and to boys who caused chaos in the classroom. The hyperactivity of the inattentive AD(H)D person is found in the mind not the body. Kirstine Weaver knew they were different but didn't know why, and spent a lot of time staring out of the windows at school. School reports said 'could do better if only they focused more' but nothing further was done.

After a lifetime of living with anxiety due to being unable to carry out tasks the way that other people expected, a chance conversation with a paediatric consultant put Kirstine on the path to being diagnosed with overthinking ADHD. Kirstine gave themselves permission to build a way of living that worked for their body, their neurology and they continue to adapt with every transition that life brings.

CONTENT

Kirstine was diagnosed with ADHD relatively recently, just in the last decade. Since then she has been exploring all the other aspects of herself and realised she has other neuro divergence traits. She refers to herself as neuro wonky or Neuro Quirky. During our chat, she talks about this and other traits she has discovered about herself. She has set up a FaceBook Group in which she invites others who may want to share and explore their neuroquirky traits.

BIO

A miscarriage after the death of her first child put Kirstine on a path to finding a wilder version of self. Developing chronic fatigue after contracting swine flu in 2009 found Kirstine re-examining her priorities in life.

12 years and several reinventions of self later, Kirstine is diagnosed with overthinking ADHD, waiting for a professional diagnosis of autism, and on a journey in understanding how to truly nourish the soul in order to heal and grow.
