CONTENT
Latoya shares her story of how she grew up feeling unloved by her mother as a child, and the long term effect that had on her. Including abusive relationships, sexual assault, date rape, pregnancy and birth trauma. Finally, after the birth of her 4th child, she fell into a deep pit of self-loathing and self-harm. At this point, she realised she needed to dig deep and unpack it all. She sat in front of the mirror and realised what she was doing to herself. Having read numerous inspirational books, she acknowledged that none of them shared the pain the writers had been through, and she didn’t relate to them. So she decided to candidly share her story – including the dark parts, to help other women experiencing similar situations.

BIO
My Name is Latoya Jade and I am the Author of ‘Beauty in the Darkness.’
I used to tell myself that I did not have enough qualifications or was not ‘famous’ enough to write a book. This belief system has kept me small for way too long. I have ancestral wisdom and knowledge within me, learned across hundreds of lifetimes and my path requires me now, to share my voice.
My experience has come from living, hard work and painful
vulnerability. I have sat and found peace with the darker parts
which embody us all, learning all that I possibly could from the
self and soul led teachings. I am a voice to all women, the women
who need to hear that they aren’t alone in the depths of it all,
the ones who long to hear it from the lips of someone just like
them… not showcased through highlights of fame and fortune. Why
should and would someone purchase a book from an author like me?
Because I have lived through it all, walked alone and embraced each
and every step with the lessons of life.
I survived, I intuitively discovered the lifetimes of wisdom
within and I did it without fame, finances, and without a
foundation of example. This gifts hope, those other women- my
readers, can too.
I am a single mother to four children, I have been a wife, an
ex-wife, a stylist, a beautician, a friend, a daughter, an enemy, a
victim… and yet these words don’t even come close to describing all
that I embody. I am a born writer and wish to empower and unify
women all over the world. My connective balance between earth and
spirit has brought upon me a task, sharing the inner tools and
abilities we have to tune in, embrace the shadows and live a
self-led life toward a conscious awakening.
When I began to hear the call to write through my healing, I was
sitting in the darkest of rock bottom’s, longing for anyone or
anything to see or resonate with that which was holding me
painfully captive. I took a giant leap of faith and decided to
share one of my most vulnerable truths with those on my personal
Facebook page.
Speaking of the deep depression I was feeling and the place of self-harm I had fallen to. I was instantly flooded with messages from women who had finally felt their voice was validated through the outpour of my emotions, they too cried out for a voice, a voice just like mine. I continued to write, and I write for the moments unspoken, the void that which leaves us painfully empty, the darker parts of ourselves we have been conditioned to believe have no place within our path to enlightenment. I write to provide a platform, where we honour our inner children, the victims, the rage, all the dark shades we too often hide away.
Around one million people in Australia alone, fight a daily battle with depression and over two million with anxiety. One in every six women is feeling the way I did in those very moments that I had decided the weight of my world was no longer something I wished to carry, and that the very things I were feeling, were ‘wrong’, ‘negative’, and were something which needed to be pushed away.
Reaching out and leaning into the ‘Self-Help’ market, I struggled to find any books that spoke of the innermost layers of healing. The motivational highlights of love and light weighed in upon me and I began to feel that I was wired wrong. ‘Why wasn’t I able to redirect my mindset? Why was I unable to see a light within the world that I was living, just like these beautiful authors before me?
I longed for a book to fill in the gaps, a story of a woman, just like myself who held a space to vulnerably sharing the hardship, the grief, the doubt, the shadows, and all of the isolating confusion that we must embrace, accept and acknowledge before the story of inner peace and self-love. This void needs a voice, and I hear it all too often from the followers on my social media accounts.
Each time that I publish a Blog, or share a post around my
transformational journey, I receive messages from women who wish to
reach out in gratitude for the fact that someone was able to
articulate and put a voice to all that they had been feeling within
themselves…and these are just the few whom have been able to
courageously reach out and acknowledge their hidden emotions to
someone outside of themselves. Owning that they too have been
feeling the weight of the darkness.
This book and it’s contents will call in Women. Women from all
walks of life, Women who are searching for answers, and women who
especially in these uncertain times, where their world has left
them with space for stillness are beginning to sit and question all
that life has brought upon them.
They are beginning to question themselves and feel into the emotions that the pace of modern day society has had us suppressing. Universally as women are going through a collective awakening and there is no better time then now to reach out our arms and find unconditional love and acceptance for the duality of light and darkness which lives within us all. We each take life at our own individual pace and no two healing journeys will ever look the same.
However speaking with many women over the last couple of years who have attended my workshops, retreats and circles, I have noticed a pattern of curiosity and interest leading to a spiritual search between the ages of 18-45 years of age. Our younger generation are feeling into the empowerment and freedom that which is led by the fearless women speaking their truths.
Women in their thirties and beyond are reflecting, recognising
the disconnect and beginning to search for their aligning sisters
to support their transformation. Without a doubt, matters of the
soul and our divine connection are taking the platform and leading
the way.
I have recently with the birth of my book, re-branded my business
and created a website where women have the ability to take a closer
look into the life of my ‘Vulnerable Transparency’ and this is
purely the beginning. I have expanded offering my clients and
followers with Intuitive Healing programs, divination tools and
opportunities to delve into their shadows. I have been recording
interviews with Podcasts run by women who want to hear my story,
who too, wish to honour these parts of themselves.
I am working under a business coach who is expanding my services
to Guest Speaking, further retreats and workshops created around
discovering the beauty of bloom within our darkest moments. Most
importantly, I have an abundance of wisdom to share, healing
through my writing, for the rest of my life. This book is just the
beginning. With the right team surrounding my vision, I have no
doubt that the reach of my words will shine a light upon the
stories and lives of millions of women who were merely waiting for
someone to place a validating truth upon the things they for too
long believed was ‘wrong with them too’.
My writing is a raw, pack a punch, style written from the inner
most layers of healing. I am yet to come across a previously
written book from my written perspective. I do feel that I hold a
similar writing style and alignment with the following two Hay
House published authors. Lisa Lister, with her divine wisdom and
knowledge in her books- Witch, Love your lady landscape and Code
red and Rebecca Campbell. The author of Rise sister rise and Light
is the new black. My book, Beauty in the Darkness is an out of the
box, self-help memoir, capturing the embodiment of all that we are
as women. It has a voice of its own and yet takes an empowering
stance beside the fellow authors and sisters writing to shine a
light upon a self-led path to intuitive healing.
